Data entry tutorial

This tutorial is designed to lead new users through the process of creating of a recipe book, a chapter and a recipe in Bartender's Companion. By following these steps carefully you will become familiar with the major features of the recipe interface.

Note: These tutorials were designed to be performed in order.

  1. Select the Recipe Navigator tab.

    How?

  2. Create a recipe book (click here to learn how).
    1. On the Action menu, point to New, and then click Book.
    2. Click the Book tab.
    3. Type the My Recipe Book in the Book Name box.
    4. Click OK.
  3. Create a chapter.

    1. On the Action menu, point to New, and then click Chapter
    2. Type the My Chapter in the Chapter Name box.
    3. In the Book box, select My Recipe Book.
    4. Under , click Top level chapter.
    5. Click OK.
  4. Open the new recipe dialog.
    1. On the Action menu, point to New, and then click Recipe.
  5. Enter the recipe properties.
    1. Click the Recipe tab.
    2. Type the Gimlet in the Recipe Name box.
    3. Click the Chapter ellipsis button and select My Chapter from the Select Chapter dialog.
    4. Type the 3.25 in the Price box.
    5. Click the Recipe Type ellipsis button and select Cocktail in the Recipe Type dialog.
  6. Enter the recipe ingredients.
    1. Click the Ingredients tab.
    2. Type 2 in the Quantity column.
    3. Type oz in the Unit column.
    4. Type gin in the Ingredient column.
    5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 with the following ingredients.

      2 tsp Rose's Lime Juice

      1 lime slice

  7. Enter the recipe procedure.
    1. Click the Procedure tab.
    2. Type the following in the Procedure box: Using a shaker filled with ice, combine all ingredients. Shake well.
    3. Repeat step 2 with the following text: Strain into a chilled cocktail glass Garnish with a lime slice.
  8. Enter the recipe author information.
    1. Click the Author tab.
    2. Type Manitoba Liquor Control Commission in the Source box.
    3. Type www.mlcc.mb.ca in the Web Page box.
  9. Click OK.
